Check that your organization qualifies
Many small tax-exempt organizations whose gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less can file Form 990-N. "Normally" is a multi-year test, and there are exceptions. Private foundations generally file Form 990-PF, and some other organizations need Form 990 or 990-EZ even when their receipts are small. Check the IRS rules before you file the e-Postcard.

Questions
Why is Form 990-N free here?
The IRS charges nothing to receive the e-Postcard, so we don't charge to file it. You don't need a payment card, and you don't have to buy another return.
Why file here instead of with the IRS?
Both are free. Here, we fill in your organization's name, address and tax period from IRS records, email you the IRS acknowledgement, and keep your filings and deadline reminders in one account. The IRS's own e-Postcard system works too.
Can Form 990-N be extended?
No. Form 8868 can't extend Form 990-N, so check the due date and file the e-Postcard on time.
Is there a PDF to download?
No. Form 990-N is an electronic notice with no PDF version. Keep the IRS acknowledgement and your organization's supporting records.
What happens if Form 990-N is filed late?
There's no monetary penalty for filing Form 990-N late. But if an organization doesn't file a required return or notice for three years in a row, it automatically loses its tax-exempt status.
