What the annual-return fee includes
The fee covers e-filing the supported form for its tax year, the supported schedules and supporting statements filed with it, and emailing you the IRS acknowledgement. Your organization still prepares and reviews the return before an officer signs.
Before you pay
For Forms 990-PF, 990 and 990-EZ, starting the return is free. You pay once when you're ready to add the schedules and sign, and you can still change the main form until an officer signs. Paying for a Form 8868 files it, so review the extension first. If you pay for the annual return at the same time, the extension is free. At checkout, confirm the form, tax year and total. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies.
Our fee doesn't pay any tax your organization owes the IRS. Other annual returns, extensions and state filings are separate obligations.
Corrections after rejection
If the IRS rejects a filing, correct it and resubmit it at no extra charge. Follow the correction instructions promptly, because whether the original filing date still counts depends on the IRS rules for correcting rejected filings.

Refunds
Once we've sent a filing to the IRS, its fee is non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise. We consider other refund requests case by case, including for a filing we couldn't send. To ask for one, write to support.

Questions
Is the Form 990-N price an introductory offer?
No. Form 990-N is permanently free. You don't need a payment card, and you don't have to buy another return.
Does every schedule cost extra?
No. The annual return's filing fee covers the supported schedules and supporting statements filed with it.
When do I pay?
It depends on the form. For Forms 990-PF, 990 and 990-EZ, starting the return is free, and you pay once when you're ready to add the schedules and sign. You can still change the main form after you pay, until an officer signs. For Form 8868, you review the extension and then pay, which files it. No officer signature is needed, and the extension is free if you pay for the annual return at the same time. Form 990-N is free and needs no payment card. Checkout shows the total, and there's no subscription.
Does the filing fee pay tax the organization owes?
No. Our fee is for e-filing. You pay any tax owed, such as a private foundation's excise tax, directly to the IRS.
